for a meeting by the nation's flags
& glass doors of the campus center
to share a word or step.
But this voice is trapped beneath
a wall of other flyers & liars,
held down by a clear-plastic thumb-
tack. If it had a spine it would be bent
but unbroken as it tries to soar,
tugging vainly towards the rising sun.
