Friday Night. by Jeff Santosuosso

Caffeine and volume burst me.
I bellow like a campfire marshmallow
full of gunpowder and Tabasco,
an armadillo, armored car
muffling an IED.
Dusty plumes of life escape my pores.

Strap me down, blow my lid right off,
hurtle me into space.
I’ll create my own gravity,
propel myself through black holes
that’ll orbit me like puppies.
I claw with turtle fingernails,
deflect with crocodile scales,
erupt with a Jackson Pollack heart.
I am the hammer
and the anvil.
Bang!
