two poems by Ashlie Allen, the first of which concerns...
Grief and cigars

The smoke that comes out
of my mouth is really
the spirit of my dead son
and dead wife

Winter Pow Wow.
the silhouette of a dancer
standing beside a broken fence
They said a man had been murdered
on his way to the Pow Wow
I wonder if ghosts are real,
and if the silhouette I see
is confused or mourning

Ashlie Allen writes fiction and poetry. She also enjoys photography. Her favorite book is The Vampire Lestat by Anne Rice.
